Fear of Needles
Licensed acupuncturist and instructor Jim Damman discusses acupuncture needles and how they differ from the medical grade needles that many people seem to fear.
When people think of needles, their thoughts race to those they experienced when getting injections or vaccinations. These types of needles are only related in name. Acupuncture needles are solid, not hollow, and there is nothing passing through them. Because of this, they are much thinner. In fact, acupuncture needles are as thick as a couple of human hairs and they are flexible as well.
With the majority of acupuncture needle pokes there is no bleeding, but the needles are designed to be used once and thrown away anyway.
